Saturday 20th July - Hickey Falls - Oakey Reserve (620)
Sun shining and no rain to start our trip up to Goondiwindi and maybe even further. Am trying out my wonder pot today - cooked up some scotch fillet and vegies with a touch of curry and fingers crossed it will be ready and lovely for dinner time. 9.15am 50kms from Narrabri and looking dull again. The roads are still so wet that when the trucks pass we are sprayed with lots of water. Hope the rain stays away. Now 20kms south of Goondiwindi and the sun is shining although the road is wet so I am guessing there was a shower not that long ago. Just passed a truck accident with a B Double burnt out on the side of the road with a pile of cans of some sort all around it. Update, the lady in the petrol station told me that the truck had a blow out and the driver managed to control it to get to the side of the road before it caught fire. Driver was OK and the cans were SPC fruit....Into Goondiwindi and more F....ing rain , we have decided to go straight up to the camp where we will meet Max & Carol tomorrow. (Oakey Reserve) The road from Cecil Plains to Bowenville was flooded in a lot of spots so the trip was nice and slow. The campsite is very, very boggy and Barry had to put the car into 4WD to get around the toilet block which is a bog. Nice and mild and looking forward to my dinner..
