Today we went for a drive down to Port Douglas. On the way we saw a cane train so I had to
get some pictures of that. Great day, first we stopped to have a look around
The Sheraton Mirage where I had to buy a beautiful pair of bejewelled thongs.
Then it was off to The Tin Shed, also known as The Port
Douglas & District Combined Clubs which has a strong affinity
with the history, culture and community of Port Douglas and the surrounding
areas. Today, it steadfastly maintains its traditions of yesterday
with strong links to the marine activities of Port Douglas and the true spirit
of the vibrant local community in this splendid natural heritage listed
destination. Lunch was ordinary but the surroundings were beautiful. After lunch we headed into the heart of Port
Douglas for some serious shopping. I got
a new pair of bathers (because I only have 9 pairs already!!!) and Carol got 2
very nice TShirts. The boys had themselves a sausage roll each from Mocha Pies
which is apparently an icon of Port Douglas. A very nice day and then happy hour with the "neighbours". Only 3 nights before we head down to Cairns for the next stage of our journey.......
