Monday 9th September - Emerald Caravan Park

Dull morning to start our journey to the next free camp.  Driving on the Suttor Development Rd which so far is quite good.  A little sprinkling of rain and very few cars, mostly mine vehicles heading to or from the Hail Creek Mine.  On the road for 1hr and looks like we maybe driving out of the drizzle.   Stopped about 10kms up the Fitzroy Development rd for MT and to collect some wood from the side of the road for tonights campfire.  Now keeping our eyes open for a free camp, so far not looking good.  Filled up at Nebo with Petrol & water and then onto lunch at Middlemount which looks like a fairly new little town set up for the mines. Then we had a look at Bundoora Dam to see if we could camp there for the night...not good, so pushing on.  Down through Tieri, bypassing Capella and on to Emerald. Have decide to go into Emerald and stay at a Caravan Park tonight and then head into Bedford Weir tomorrow for a couple of nights.  It was getting a bit late in the day to continue driving.  Prefer to be off the road by 4.00pm and let the "truckies" and kangaroos have it.
