Tuesday 3rd September - Bowen (Queens Beach Tourist Village)

Left our free camp at Toomulla Beach and are going to Bowen for a few days.  Barry & I were eaten alive last night by Midgies and are covered in red welts that are very itchy. Hopefully a few days at Bowen and they will heal up.... Today is very, very windy, at one stage when we rounded a bend in the road it appeared we were driving through a Desert Sand Storm. Horrible day, very unpleasant and blowing the car around alot.  First caravan park we tried was revolting, Horseshoe Bay, the woman there didn't want to give Max back his deposit so, Barry & Carol were sent in as "The Big Guns" to get it back......worked fine, she relented and gave back the money after Barry said he would "hold her personally responsible if there was any damage done to our caravan whilst trying to poke into the terrible, small sites".  Left there and are now staying at Queens Beach Tourist Village, very nice.  May stay for a few days now we are all set up.Dinner tonight was at a seafood place down by the Harbour, very tasty.
