Thursday 5th September - Bowen (Queens Beach Tourist Village)

Today we have decided to do the "Tourist Bit" around Bowen.  Check out the lovely beaches as well as a bit of Bowen history.  First we went to Murray Bay where the scenery is absolutely beautiful, lots of rocky outcrops and a very nice swimming beach.  Didn't actually go for a swim there but walked around the rocks and along the waters edge.

Then it was over to Horseshoe Bay and then to Rose Bay.  All lovely beaches, but Horseshoe Bay being the nicest beach, a real surf beach.

Up to Flagstaff Hill to the Lookout, where it was blowing an absolute gale, and then back to Bowen Fish & Chip shop for lunch.  Lovely fresh fish and the best chips I have had in a long time.

Bowen from Flagstaff Hill Lookout.
And then around to The Catalina Memorial.

Lastly on our way back to the Caravan Park we had a look at the Bowen Murals.  My pictures certainly do not do these lovely Murals justice.  Check out the web page......

Tomorrow morning we are heading back inland, it is so windy here and the weather isn't expected to improve until after the weekend.  I think we have all had a very nice time along the beaches and are looking forward to a bit of free camping inland.  We then head back into Elliott Beach to before tripping on down the coast.
